Favorite WordCamp Birmingham Moment #2

September 26, 2009

Favorite WordCamp Birmingham Moment 2:     There was this really neat guy who was in one of our breakout sessions.  At the end of the session,  I asked where he was from.  When he said San Francisco I said, “Oh, so you travel from state to state attending WC’s”.  I started my whole southern hospitality bit of telling about the city, where to go, etc.  He was wonderful.  It wasn’t until Andre mentioned to me that the CEO of WordCamp, Matt Mullenweg, was hanging out with us that I realized who he was.

This is an AWESOME story! Matt’s a really funny and cool guy (clearly a result of his Texas origins!). Even though it sometimes feels like you’re drinking from a fire hose, events like WordCamp are excellent opportunites to learn and get input from some really smart people. That’s one reason why I’m really looking forward to tomorrow… a chance to mingle and share ideas with some of the brightest folks in the space! Glad you enjoyed it and keep up the great work!

Hey thanks. Andre Natta, Wade Kwon and Kira Fonteneau have been great coaches. It is nice to expand the network.

Too kind. And thanks for sharing your encounter with Matt. He is certainly a low-key CEO.
